Technorati has been following blogging trends since 2004 and on 3rd Nov'10 Technorati's CEO Richard Jalichandra presented his annual State Of The Blogosphere 2010 report at ad:tech conference.

Technorati will be blogging about these reports over next three days which is based on a survey conducted with 7200 bloggers. "The 2010 edition of State of the Blogosphere finds blogs in transition-no longer an upstart community, now with influence on mainstream narratives firmly entrenched, with bloggers still searching for the next steps forward." shares Technorati

Detailed Report, Day 1

  • 25% bloggers are engaged in mobile blogging.
  • 40% bloggers say that Smart Phones has changed the way they blog, encouraging small and quick blog posts.
  • Influence of women and mom bloggers is becoming increasingly evident.
  • 43% bloggers wish to expand the topics that they blog about.
  • 1 out of 3 bloggers boycott products.
  • 42% respondents say they blog about brands they love or hate.
  • 48% bloggers believe that more people will be getting their news and entertainment from blogs than traditional media in next five years.
  • 13% bloggers are part timers with 63% spending more time than three hours a day on blogging and 33% update their blog once a day.
  • 63% of part timers measure their blog success by number of unique visitors, whereas 56% say they also value personal satisfaction.
  • Only 1% are corporate bloggers who blog full time for their company or organization.
  • Self Employed make up to 21% in blogosphere as opposed to 9% last year, among which 57% own a company and have a blog related to it while 19% report that their blog is their company.
  • Bloggers use various social media sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, YouTube or MySpace, but unsurprisingly maximum traffic is driven through Facebook and Twitter.
