Focus Writer is a full screen word processor that aims at providing an application that allows you to write without any distractions and focus only on what you write.
Compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux, Focus Writer is freeware application that ensures that while writing you concentrate solely on your words and in the meanwhile keeps a tab on your word count, paragraph count, spell check and other features that help in analyzing your progress.
Features
- Its hide-away interface lets you enlarge the writing area and hide menus, buttons or any other tabs on the screen. If you wish to view the interface, simply hover the mouse at top, bottom or left, right of the screen.
- It comes with choice of themes, environments and backgrounds which you can choose as per your liking or to draw inspiration from.
- To motivate yourself, you can set up daily goals through this application based on word count or time spent writing.
- It comes with Live Statistics feature that continuously watches your work progress through word count, paragraph count, page count and even character count.
- It has a very interesting Spell Check feature that lets you not only disable it (so that you don't get distracted while writing) but also lets keep it as a standby and come back to it later once you are done writing. You can also customize your personal dictionary.
- Can manage multiple documents at same time, through hidden tabs at the bottom of the page.
- Some of its additional feature includes text formatting, smart quotes, timers, alarms and also supports other languages.
Overall it is an interesting and useful application, provided you are not too much of a fan for Microsoft Word Processor. Even if you are, there ain't no harm in checking it out, who knows you might just find yourself at your creative best through this tool.

I wanted to mention that there is a program called Spell Check Anywhere that adds spell check to all windows programs (SpellCheckAnywhere.Com). Although, focus writer has spell check, there are many program that don't, and this program, Spell Check Anywhere, adds spell check to all of them.
