Facebook has finally announced launch of the their latest 'Facebook Questions' feature, it is their beta product that allows you to pose questions to the entire 500 million users community on Facebook.

About 2 months ago, we had reported about Facebook inviting beta testers when they'd announced that their new question and answer feature "will be as exiting as Facebook Photos and Facebook Events".

As of now the feature is available for selective beta testers only, but they have promised that "we'll be developing it rapidly based on their feedback. We're aiming to bring this product to all of you as quickly as we can".

So, when the application does become available to everyone, you will be able to "Questions" button with a light-bulb icon on the left sidebar of your homepage alongside photos and applications. The same button will also be visible on your 'update status' bar. Whenever you ask a question, it will be updated on your news feed, therefore making it visible to all your friends and family.

So, what does Facebook Questions has to offer to its users?

Adding Photos: When you ask questions, you also have the option of adding an image with the question. Suppose you wish to learn about a particular gadget, simply upload the relevant picture and pose a question related to it.

Polls: It only allows to ask questions but also lets you add options with your questions. Suppose you wish travel to a new place, but are confused. Simply ask them with options, Honolulu, Bora-Bora or Bermuda Triangle.

Exploring: Since, Q&A application is a public forum, therefore it allows you to explore what others are asking and answering, based your choice of subject.

Tagging: When you ask a question, you have the option of tagging it with a topic, making it easier for others to find questions and answers related to a certain field. Suppose, you ask a question about flowers, you can tag it with 'gardening' or 'nature'.

Following: If you wish to be updated constantly about a certain question, you have the option of 'following' it, after which you will be receiving notifications whenever someone adds a new answer.

This application is pretty much similar to Aardvark (acquired by Google recently) which automatically finds the right person to answer your question, it could be someone in your friend list or friends of friends or someone outside your network. "Because questions will also appear to your friends and their friends, you'll receive answers that are more personalized to you." claims Facebook.

Furthermore, they advice to "Keep in mind that all questions and answers posted using the Questions application are public and visible to everyone on the Internet. If you only want to ask a question to your friends or a specific group of people, you can still pose it as a status update on your profile targeted to those people."

Do you think that Facebook Questions will prove out to be as good or perhaps better than other similar services like, Wiki Answers, Yahoo Answers, Twitter or Ask.com?
