"Honey, I've decided to quit my job, we've always wanted to start something of our own and now is the time to do something about it."

There comes a time in everyone's life when a sudden urge arises to say these words and then a desire to act upon it. Quiet a few people do manage to take the plunge, but how many of them are able to achieve something?

A workplace with no boss sure sounds awesome, but only wanting to do something is not suffice, it takes a lot more to establish a business. Here a check list for those who 'want' to be there own boss:

1. Internet
If you wish to launch a business online, you obviously need to have at least some basic idea about internet. Don't fret if you don't have any technical knowledge, you can always hire someone who can help you with your domain name or designing your website; but you need to be aware as to how all this works. Read and research as much as you can, there are plenty of articles, tutorials, blogs and eBooks available online.

2. Plan
Do you have a plan or you plan to "take it as it comes"? If its latter, then stop right now; there is no point wasting money and time on a venture without plans. You need to have a structured idea about your business, an outline at-least; you might end doing something different from your original plan, but you need to know : what you plan to sell, who you plan to sell it to and how you plan to sell it. Launching a business online doesn't take very long, but surviving in it takes planning.

3. Savings
Make sure that you have a back-up plan ready, don't rush into things. Ensure that you have enough money saved up for about 6-8 months, 'coz you never know with E-commerce: your business could either take off instantly or it may take time to establish itself and create a presence. You don't want to back out mid way due lack of funds do you?

4. Commitment
Now, that you've decided that you will work for yourself, remember that you can't wake up one morning and decide that "today I won't work"; if your business needs you - you've got to be there, always. In online business, you don't meet your customers regularly, but don't let lack of physical presence slow you down. Your customers are still there, waiting for you to check their orders, resolve their issues, and reply to their queries. Apart from this you need to work on your product, market it and obviously figure out ways to gain profit from it. So if you are willing to commit your 200%, then you can slash this out from your check list.

5. Creativity
Are you open to new ideas, or have a tendency to remain in your own comfort zone?
Creativity is not confined only to those who sell craft or art, it can be discovered within anyone and implied very effectively in your business. You need to be open towards innovative ideas and come up different ways that can help in making your business better day by day. In the virtual world trend changes very rapidly, you need to keep up and come up with ways to start you own unique trend or identity.

6. Support from Family & Friends
On the onset of establishing a business, you will need tremendous amount of support from your family and friends . Initially you will be 'very' busy with giving a kick start to your business and that is the most important time to have someone who backs you up and lifts your spirits on the days when things don't seem to be going in the right direction. There will be times when you might need some helping hands, or someone who can advice you and tell you that you may be wrong; so remember to always gather support from your near and dear ones and learn to appreciate it.

7. Competition
You 'need' to be aware about your would-be competitors and have enough knowledge about them. First of all it will give you a very good idea about the market that you are about to enter and secondly it can give you an idea about what your competitors are not doing and you can come with something that will give your business an extra edge in the market. Like they say "keep your friends close and your enemies even closer".

8. Motivation
When you start a business you are highly motivated and determined to sell your product/service with complete dedication. But you need to ask yourself that when things begin get better and start showing results, would you still be equally motivated to get up everyday and start working with the same enthusiasm that you had before? Or what if things get worse, would you give up or slow down? Internet is a vast jungle, and the day you become lazy or laid back, you will be left behind. So before you start, ensure that you believe in your business idea and no matter what comes you way, your  belief in 'your' idea will keep you motivated...always.
