The Fun Theory
When we have a choice between taking the stairs or the escalator, most of us would choose the latter option. For many people, disposing the trash inside the trash bin or around it, means more or less the same thing.
The Fun Theory aims to improve such behavior among people by adding the element of fun in simple deeds that may help in improving the environment or one's health. Some ideas have proven to be quite effective in inculcating some basic civic sense in people.
The fun theory was an initiative by Volkswagen, which conducted a contest where people from around the world submitted their ideas. "The fun theory award recognizes those thoughts, ideas and inventions that help prove the fun theory. That fun is the easiest way to change people's behavior for the better" explains the site.

Those who are able to successfully scan the QR code are given exclusive discounts (up to 25%) at the Emart store, purchases can be made directly using a smartphone. The reason for putting up Sunny Sale between 12 and 1pm is to enhance sales during lunchtimes. (Learn more)

For every chocolate bag picked, the customers have to make a pledge. Every bag is marked with a unique price tag that says, 'serve breakfast in bed to a loved one', 'don't comment on your girlfriend's driving for a week', 'help clean a friends' house', 'or 'a week where you don't lie to your father'.
Instead of heading towards the cash register, shoppers are asked to pledge their good deed using an iPad. They are asked to log in to their Facebook account and go public with their promise. (Learn more)
