Those who want to utilize SEO so that their website/blog ranks better on search engines should certainly take advantage of two techniques: link exchanges in the form of post submissions, i.e. guest posting, and commenting on forums, blogs, and websites.  Below you’ll find explanations of what “nofollow” links are, what both commenting and guest posting entail, and examples of optimal high PR sites to which bloggers should take advantage.

What are “nofollow” links?

When you’re trying to optimize your site, getting your website’s URL on as many reputable (i.e. high PR) sites as possible is imperative.  However, just because a site has a high PR does not mean that it will be helpful to get your link on the site.  Why?  Because Google along with other prominent search engines have caught on to this technique.  Search engines want sites to show up in their search engine result pages (SERPs) that have organically gathered a following.  Engaging in SEO, though its rather natural now in the sense not doing so is detrimental to our business, is not something search engines consider organic.  Thus, they have found ways to penalize those engaging in SEO in recent years.  And because those sites that have built themselves up don’t want to be penalized by the search engines, they’ve begun adding “nofollow” and “noindex” in their websites’ invisible content to instruct search engine crawlers, i.e. robots that search the web to determine which websites are most used and useful to include in search engines’ results pages, to ignore specific or all URL links within a page.  So, you see, it is imperative if you are trying to engage in SEO that you not only get your links on high PR sites, but on sites that allow “dofollow” links; meaning websites that allow crawlers to read and include such URLs in search engines’ algorithms.

To get your links on such websites, there are two simple techniques: commenting and guest posting.

Commenting

Commenting on forums, websites, and blogs relevant to your own website and dropping your URL into the conversation is a simple way to get crawlers to read your URL on as many other websites as possible.  For instance, www.businessadviceforum.com is a forum that hasn’t instituted nofollow instructions and it’s a PR 5.  And this is just one forum in which engaging in relevant conversation and dropping your website’s URL is an easy way to engage in SEO.

Guest Posting

Guest posting is a similar concept to comment link exchanges in the sense that you are getting your link on websites.  The difference, however, is that you are offering to provide a given website with content, usually for free, in exchange for them allowing you to place your website’s link somewhere within your article. A great website for this is the PR7 www.newsvine.com, a MSNBC affiliate.  All you have to do is create an account using an email not associated with your website, and drop the link into your articles organically.

The article is really great, in my point of view, the best way to do guest posting is that post your best article in the similar type of blog and make understand the blog owner that by doing guest posting the benefit is for both and also the viewers.

Very rightly said! Sometimes guest posting becomes more critical than writing content for one's own blog. But at the same time, one should never ignore loyal readers and always thrive to reach out to new ones and there is no better way than guest posting.
