For any employer the most important asset are your employees. They are what run your company, they produce, they market and sell your products and they are the one resource that can provide feedback and ideas that can help you improve your company.

That is why Employer Branding is such an important subject.

Doing whatever it takes to make your employees happy and making sure they spread the word so that others will want to join your team.

The main benefits of a good employer branding strategy

1. More loyal employees

When you employees are happy with their jobs they will be less open to other opportunities, they will be more inclined to do a little extra and if they really like working with you they will even take a lower salary to stay in your company.

2. Harder working employees

When people are happy they work harder, are more creative and are a lot more valuable to your company. This means that by investing in your employees you will get an increase in output that by far out ways what you have put in.

3. Less turnover

When your employees want to work for you, they will. A good company can keep employees for decades while others struggle to keep their employees for as little as a year.

The cost reduction of not having to constantly recruit new talent is evident. It takes a lot of time, effort and money to recruit people.

4. Easier to recruit new talent

The great extra benefit is that although you won’t need to fill vacant positions as often because of your lower turnover, when you do need to find a new employee, be it because you are expanding or because someone has taken a new step in their career, new talent won’t be hard to find if people know that working for you is a great place to work.

5. A better workplace

Not only will your employees be happier, but you will be happier. Your workplace will be better, you will have friends, not just colleagues. You will have people around you who are happy and who trust you and who you can trust.

With all of these benefits you might be asking yourself, why doesn't every company focus on employer branding?

The answer is, most of them do.

The hard part is to do it well. It takes a lot of time, effort and in some cases money to make a workplace a great place to work, but above all it takes trust. It requires that you trust your employees, something not all employers are good at doing.

5 Ways to Improve Employee Morale

1. Honesty

Being open with your employees and letting them know what is happening makes them feel involved. They will trust you when you tell them something instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop. This grants an enormous relief and lets your employees focus on their jobs rather than trying to discover what really is going on.

2. Respect

Respect your employees judgment, input and ideas. Let them know when things are happening, let them tell you their ideas and listen! Make sure to implement all the good ideas they have (as quick as is possible) and give them credit where credit is due.

Everyone wants to do a good job and gain recognition for it, give it to them and I can promise that your team will scramble to produce results to gain that kind of recognition again and again.

3. Growth opportunities

No one likes standing still. Everyone is always looking for ways to improve themselves. Give them that opportunity in your company.

When you feel someone is really, let them run a new project. Let them come up with the ideas and be responsible for the results. Send them on courses to enhance their competence and abilities.

4. Control over their own days

Let your employees prove that they can handle themselves. Let them be in charge of how they use their time, just make them responsible for the results. Help them, coach them but let them make the final decision.

The point is that it is the results you are after anyway, not where or how they work. By making them responsible for their work you will enhance their self esteem and therefore their results.

5. Salaries

It is important that people feel that they get what they deserve. They should feel calm financially, but raising an employee’s salary to more than that will make a very small difference in terms of loyalty, for most people.

The other 4 points will make a larger difference. Make sure not to underpay though because that can really cause disloyalty.

Conclusion

The importance of Employer Branding is obvious and it doesn’t have to be very hard to create a company filled with motivated employees.

Just make sure to do the little extra, trust them and give them the chance to produce results under their own conditions and you will see results far outshining anything you have seen before.

There are different ways that can help you boost employee’s morale. As employer you don't need to spend too much to motivate employees and boost morale. A simple acknowledgement can also help like saying to your employees personally that "they're doing a great job" and "keep it up". This is also a good way to have a strong bond in employer and employees relationship. In our company where employees are constantly being monitor on how we use the computer at work. Using this tool it also helps motivate employees in the long run because it does not block or filter unrelated to work website such as social media. We employees are also responsible not to abuse our company's trust. This way I believe that employees are more productive.
