Probably the most well-known and successful E-Commerce site out there is Amazon. The way they have integrated buying and selling a variety of goods online in a clean and efficient manner is phenomenal and doesn’t happen overnight.

When you start out, the thought of creating a site to the likes of sites like Amazon can be overwhelming, but with a few tips and tricks it’s definitely not impossible.

Allow for product reviews from customers

Consumers will have more trust in the website if they can read both the good and bad reviews of products. Studies have shown that having user-generated reviews on your website helps to increase your conversions.

Give stellar online service

Even if they hate the product that they get, if you provide customers with immediate and outstanding service they are more likely to come back to your website and utilize it for future purchases. Likewise, if you treat your customers poorly, you are ensuring that they not only won’t come back but that they’ll tell other people. You want them to be recommending your site not bashing it.

Make checking out easy

No one wants to figure out how to purchase a product; they want it to be fast and easy. The longer it takes to purchase something, the less likely people will actually buy it because they will have too much time to think about if they really want something or not. Not to mention, if they are frustrated because they can’t figure out the check-out process or it’s taking too long, they are more likely to close out the website and either not purchase the product at all or buy it from somewhere else. Additionally, only ask for pertinent information, as people are getting more and more wary about having to give out superfluous information online.

Keep the website clean

You want anyone landing on your page to be able to navigate through it easily and be able to immediately find what they want. If your website is too cluttered, it will come across as overwhelming and if people aren’t able to quickly find what they want you’ll lose them as customers.

Update Regularly

It will be to your extreme disadvantage to advertise a certain product only to have it be out of stock when people try to purchase it. Make sure your website is up to date and reflects current products and current pricing.

By employing a few common sense strategies and taking the time to make sure that everything is in good, working condition on your website, you’ll ensure that you have a site that people want to use and recommend to others.
