A logo is created early on in most
businesses, because it positions your brand in the marketplace and tells people who you are. But what does it take to make
your logo awesome? We looked at the most successful logos in history, to make an easy-to-follow guide to creating your brand's logo.
The easy way to ensure your logo is strong is to create it in black and white first. After you have a solid base, you can add color to make your logo 'pop'. Here are a couple of examples, to illustrate this point...
Nike 'Swoosh' vs. National Geographic
The Nike Swoosh is recognizable in any color,
but National Geographic is so connected to the color yellow, their magazine
cover has had a yellow border since 1910, their logo in a different color is
not as likely to make someone think of company.
- Your logo should be simple.
Your logo
should say something about you, but you do not want to make it to complex. If the logo is too busy, then it could make it less
memorable to people.
Take the earliest
Apple logo for example...
At least the
name of the company is there, but this logo is intense. It did not take Steve Jobs long to ditch the intricacy and develop the ultra recognizable logo Apple has today.
- Don't draw from fads. Make your logo timeless.
Some of the best examples of timeless logos were achieved withcustom scripts, like Walt Disney or Coca-Cola:
- But don't be afraid to evolve your logo.
Notice how Mercedes has evolved. They don't throw everything away and start from scratch, they make changes to reflect what is happening in their company and in the modern world.
1909:
1926:
This logo (right) was created when DMG merged with the Benz & Company
Rheinische Gasmotoren-Fabrik (their logo at the time on the left) to become the company we know today, Mercedes-Benz.
2015:
But
the company kept changing with the times, keeping the basic idea, but
modernizing the logo.
Starbucks is another evolving logo success story.
1971:
2015:
They evolved their logo to reflect changes in their business, and they simplify their design.Their current logo is now recognizable in color (their signature green) and black and white.

Logo is the most important for a business . policy and staff can be change but logo remains same every time so every brand must think deep assigning logo to business . its not about money but you have to choose the right person for logo design like Nike initially pay only 35 dollars for his logo however later on they offers some share for the graphics designer .
